2011-12 Season Press Release
Livermore Valley Opera, is celebrating its 20th Anniversary season which includes two of opera’s most cherished and poignant works: Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” and Puccini’s “Tosca,” as well as a special anniversary event of a Bankhead Theater performance and elegant dinner at the Ruby Hill Golf Club.
LVO has grown and matured since its founding by Raquel and Doug Holt in 1992, whose love of opera and vision of bringing quality opera to the local community has been realized. With the opening of the Bankhead Theater in 2007, LVO moved its long-held productions from Livermore High School’s auditorium to the new state-of-the-art theater which launched the opera to a new level of professionalism with advanced stage production technology and an enhanced audience experience. This, coupled with the high caliber of opera singers, music and stage direction led to LVO’s being given Professional Company Member status by OPERA America in March of this year.
“Livermore Valley Opera's 20th anniversary is indeed a happy event and momentous,” says Raquel Holt. “I believe that a community has to have some form of art to reach its soul - to help us see who we are. And this is what LVO is all about. Throughout the years, LVO has been guided by its stated mission, that is, to help enrich our community and to foster talented opera singers. To be able to achieve this, we need partners and supporters, and we have been fortunate. We are grateful for the big heart and encouragement of our valley-wide community and its continued support to LVO.”
