James Grainger (Il Commendatore)
James Grainger appears with LVO for the first time. He has sung many leading and supporting roles in the Italian, French and German repertoire. After performing in opera, oratorio and concerts in Europe for many years, he now lives in California. Following vocal and interpretive studies with Henery Jacobi and Bertha Melnik in New York, James joined the Israel National Opera making his debut in the role of Zaccaria in Verdi’s Nabucco. In Europe he joined the ensemble of the Stadttheater Luzern and performed in opera concert and oratorio in Paris, Florence, Luzern and Bologna continuing to study and building a concert repertoire of Italian and French songs. Opera repertoire includes; Sparafucile, Zaccaria, Ferrando, Sarastro, Don Alfonso, Mephistopheles and Gremin. Oratorios include Handel’s Messiah, Schuman’s Faust Szenen and the Requiem of Verdi, Mozart and Dvorak.
