The Livermore Valley Opera is pleased to announce Daniel Helfgot as the Stage Director for our next production “The Barber of Seville,” by Rossini, to be performed in October 2008.

Daniel Helfgot's credits include over 180 productions of over 90 different operas, operettas and zarzuelas from the Baroque to the contemporary, including several world premieres.
His international credits include productions in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Argentina, Austria, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico and in the US he has directed for such companies as the Utah Festival, Orlando, Virginia; Baltimore; Memphis; Chattanooga; Knoxville; Eugene; Pennsylvania Festival; Billings, Montana; Spring Opera and Western Opera Theater of San Francisco; West Bay and Festival Opera of California; Utah; Sacramento, etc.
His work also includes productions of tango and cabaret shows.

Livermore Valley Opera Introduces Frugal Friday to La Boheme Schedule
An ‘Opera’-tunity to Discover Live Art
(October 1, 2007) Livermore, Calif. -- Livermore Valley Opera (LVO) will offer a price reduction on tickets for one performance of La Boheme, one of the world’s most popular operas, on Friday, October 26, 2007 in downtown Livermore. Tickets will be offered at reduced pricing levels on Frugal Friday, ranging from $25 to $45, by calling or visiting the Bankhead Theater box office (925) 373-6800, 2400 First St, Livermore.
Frugal Friday is an opportunity for those who have never attended an opera, and those on a limited budget, as well as families, the chance to experience performance art at reduced prices. Audience members are sure to enjoy La Boheme, a tale of two young Bohemians in Paris, the poet Rodolfo and the seamstress Mimi, which runs at the Bankhead Theater October 20, 21, 26, 27 and 28. For those who want to add dinner to their opera experience, all playbills at the Bankhead Theater will contain a temporary Downtown Discount coupon, in partnership with Livermore Downtown Inc, and participating merchants and restaurants. Attendees may use the discount card for dinner after the show, or if they have attended one of the gala events, the discount card can be used for dinner before the opera.
All patrons are invited to attend a pre-performance lecture about the story line, the personalities and the lore associated with this particular opera one hour prior to show time. This is LVO’s second run of La Boheme and features Rebecca Garcia, a Livermore resident and award-winning soprano, double cast in the lead role of Mimi.
Livermore Valley Opera, established in 1991 and incorporated in 1992, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has relied on the help of hundreds of volunteers and generous arts patrons to bring opera to the Tri-Valley for more than 15 years.
LVO appoints Music Director/Conductor
Livermore Valley Opera is proud to announce the appointment of Alexander Katsman as the company's Music Director and Conductor. Mr. Katsman received his M.M from Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia. Since his arrival to the United States in 1990, Alexander has been sought after as a conductor and collaborative pianist. He is an alumnus of the prestigious SF Opera Merola Program. He serves on the conducting and coaching faculty of the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater and is on the coaching staff at the SF Conservatory and at the Holy Names University.

Opera in the Vineyard
Livermore Valley Opera Guild presents its annual fundraiser for the opera, "Opera in the Vineyard," on Father's Day, Sunday, June 15, 2008, 5 pm – 8pm in Livermore, to be held at Cedar Mountain Winery , 7000 Tesla Rd, in Livermore.
Bring your own chair and a picnic and experience opera, al fresco, at this annual benefit for Livermore Valley Opera (LVO). A silent auction and a raffle will help raise funds for this local performing arts group. (more info)
Record Attendance
The March 2008 production of Carmen set new heights for LVO’s performances. Audiences returned to see LVO in the Bankhead Theater and were again rewarded with a large, stunning set and outstanding performances of the singers, chorus, dancers and orchestra. LVO thanks our patrons for their outstanding support and looks forward to another fine production season with our upcoming Barber of Seville in the Fall and Marriage of Figaro in the Spring of 2009.
